These pictures were taken just before Halloween. That day, we had my sister and her family over so that my nephew could pick a pumpkin out of my father' garden. It has been nice seeing him grow up. He really seems to like puzzles.

The epidemic of obesity

It was on MSN.COM where I found this article about a survey concerning the level of physical activity of Americans. The respondents to this survey report that their level of physical activity has risen from 2001 to 2005 by small measures. You wouldn't notice this if you see that the number of Americans who are considered obese is on the rise.


It doesn't take a whole lot of intelligence to see the root cause of this epidemic of obesity. Schools are cutting back on the money used for physical education programs. Kids are spending more time playing video games and surfing the Web. People love their cars and feel that they have to drive everywhere when they could get where they are going just as well riding a bicycle or walking, not to mention the price of gasoline.


The real culprit here is our so-called need to drive. Crash diets don't work. What we need for people to lose weight is a complete lifestyle change. Yes, this will mean occasionally giving up the daily commute by car. If your daily commute to work (or school) is less then 10 miles, you can get there in plenty of time riding a bike. I found a great blog with tips on bicycle commuting here. Some people will say that they are too fat to pedal a bike. The truth is they are fat because they don't pedal. WAKE UP AND GET OFF YOUR BUTTS PEOPLE! Don't blame McDonalds, Krispy Kreme, or Burger King because you ate too much. That people are obese is their own fault, not that of society.

The anti-gun lobby would love to see this

Since illegal and legal guns have been banned from airports, people
still feel insecure when entering midwest
airlines. To ensure better gun control, emirates
airline has increased their security. Passengers should have travel
insurance for their own safety. However, flights to las
vegas have never given compaints on the gun issue. Nurses are available
at new
york hotels for emergency purposes. They are also available at chicago hotel
rooms. These nurses are hired for travel nursing
only.






I found this video on YouTube and thought that the anti-gun lobbyists that are trying to subvert our Constitution would use this as part of their vast arsenal. It is sad that they will say that the only way to limit the number of guns bought and possessed illegally is to ban them outright. The only people affected by such a ban would be the people who buy their guns legally. Gangbangers don't care whether their guns are legal or not and will not be affected by such a ban. They can always find any kind of gun they want anywhere.

There was a time when most homes in this country had a gun in the house and people were taught to use them.

I saw this clip on Youtube and a thought occurred to me. That thought was that these people need to realize how much business would slow down in any major city if there were no bike messengers running packages around the city. Face it, bikes can go where cars and other traffic simply cannot get to. Often, when traffic is at a stand still in a traffic jam, bike messengers are the only means of delivering packages from one point to another in a fairly short period of time.

Big Boorish Bullies

Recently, I have come to the conclusion that fundamentalists Christians tend to be the worst bunch of hypocrytes and bullies around. Take the case in Berkley about the decision to display the nativity scene on municipal property. I am sure that the majority of the people in Berkley are Christian, but we do live in a country where the minority has rights, too. Do these people really have to be subject to such a display when Thanksgiving hasn't even come to pass yet?


The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution gaurantees us separation of church and state. That means that we have both freedom of religion and freedom from religion. This country was founded on the idea of freedom of religion, not Judeo-Christian doctrine as the Christian right would want people to think. America will never be a Christian nation. Sorry Ann Coulter, your wish will never come true.
Some of the worst atrocities in history have been committed in the name of Christ. Ask yourself, WWJD( WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?)

Only stupid people end up paying late fees


Some stupid people may be missing on amazing travel deals. All
you need is to take some time to search for deals like hotel deals at
miami. Once you get miami hotel
reservations, you'll be happy to know that you won't be paying late fees for
any video rental. All domestic flights
through aloha
airlines will surely make your flight even more pleasant. Maybe your
next search could have you find great deals for train travel.

I have read a lot of complaints about the so-called outrageous late fees that video stores charge for costumers who return the videos they rent. That got me to thinking about what is the best way to avoid having to pay those late fees. There is really one way to avoid those fees and that is to return the videos they rent on time.
That should really be a no-brainer. How hard is it to stop by the store on your way to work in the morning? How hard is it really to use that wonderful invention called a night drop box?
All these people complain about the obscene fees these companies charge. And yet, they don't do anything to change their own behavior and end up giving away their money. OH PLEASE! There would be no need for those fees if these idiots would just return their movies on time. COME ON PEOPLE, GET WITH THE PROGRAM!
