Writers want more

As if Hollywood writers don't already make way more than the average American citizen, the strike that shows nothing but how greedy they are will do more harm than good. This strike is happening simply because they feel they need that expensive hous in Malibu or Beverly Hills. All that they are telling the American public is that like quite a few other Americans, such as those who feel that they need a gigantic SUV, is that they are already living well beyond their means. Hollywood writers already get paid way more than the average American worker.

At this time, many companies are looking to get rid of employee ehakth care benefits, or are looking to severely curtail the benefits that they do still have, Hollywood writers are still getting their full benefits package. Hollywood has been a very generous employer, but some people always want more. We live in an age where we need instant gratification. Americans, in general, are living way beyond their means. For the last few years, it has become exrtemely easy for people to obtain credit cards and get in way over their heads in debt. It has also been getting even easier for people to file for bankruptcy and attempt to have that debt erased. They don't think about what that does to their credit rating.

A debtor's Christmas

At Christmas time every year, take a look around you and tell me what you see. What I see is a whole lot of people going into debt just so that their children and grandchildren can have the latest and greatest stuff. They are afflicted by the disease called Instant Getification.
The cause of this particular disease is a small piece of overused piece of plastic. That piece of plastic is more commonly referred to as a credit card. The symptoms include, but are not limited to, buying more than a person originally intended to buy in the first place, charging more that you could possibly pay off in a month, and generally living beyond their means. These people think that they have to get present for every one.
Are your children and grandchildren really going to remember what you got them for Christmas? Or are they going to remember the time you spend with them? I would thin that the later is more true than the former. Most of the toys will more than likely be put down in the basement and largely forgotten.
Or they get the worst form of this disease by believing they just have to have a house instead of renting an apartment. They buy a house while not planning for such expenses as yard care and general maintenance while they think they are building value in their homes. The average appreciation of a house barely keeps pace with inflation. That does not include utilities like electricity, gas, or water. At least with an apartment, gas and water are usually included with the rent.

Fresh pictures

These are some pictures that I found that I thought would make interesting additions to this blog. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and published the photo of the turbine-powered truck twice. My bad.

What is it with 4X4 drivers?

When people think of buying a 4x4 SUV, I say why not look for travel trailers? They are much more spacious and great for driving in the snow. But then again, when going for a vacation, nothing beats cheap flights to canada. To get that cheap rate, first you would need to take flights to amsterdam from indian airlines. Then change flights through malaysian airlines all the way to your destination. Reserve a room just as stunning as a london hotel at your arrival.
Well, the first major snow has fallen here in West Michigan and the rednecks seem to be flocking to the roads in droves. That leads me to ask the question: Why is it that every driver of an SUV or 4X4 feels that they have the right to intimidate everyone else on the road and try to force them off the road?

It seems that they think that having that four-wheel drive available means that they can do whatever they want on the road, regardless of the safety of the others that they have to share the road with. Do they always seem to forget that actually stopping the car is just as important as getting going? It really does not matter how many wheels you have driving the vehicle, you can still wind up in the ditch. It is not what you drive, but how you drive it that matters.

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with people driving these behemoths. It is just that their mentality seems to be that every one else has to get out of their way, which is not always the case. These people need to remember the concept called the Basic Speed Law.

Don't these idiots realize that they are sharing the road with other families? These people are so self-absorbed in their own little that they don't pay attention to what is going on around them.

Two months later, nothing has changed.

Just today, February 6, we got hit pretty hard with a snow storm. This post right here show that it does not matter what you drive, it is how you drive. Unfortunately, in their collective short sightedness, our county is trying to go cheap with their snow plows. SUV drivers seem to think that since they can afford such large and expensive vehicles that they have special privileges over other people and that they don't have to share the road. A quote from Mark Morford would sum up my attitude toward most SUV drivers: " You know it's true. SUV drivers tend, more than any others on the road, to be aggressive jerks." This article right here has some very useful tips for driving SUVs safely, some of which are no brainers. I thought that this article that I found on Craigslist put a somewhat humorous spin on the whole SUV ownership thing.

The truth about Global Warming

Photosyntheseis is the process by which plants take unusable sunlight to make the sugar we all use. This process also releases the oxygen we all need to survive. To make six molecules of oxygen and one molecule of sugar, this process uses six molecules of carbon dioxide and six molecules of water.
Global warming is a fact, but not for the reasons that we have been told. Nature produces much more carbon dioxide than the human race does. Humans produce very little carbon dioxide. Natural process are still the major culprit behind most of the production of CO2. Earth's plants are our natural CO2 scrubbers. Due to deforestation, the plants that use photosynthesis to take natural sunlight and carbon dioxide and make oxygen and sugars are being wiped out.
As trees are cut down and other plants destroyed by urban sprawl, the ability of plants to make usable energy out of sunlight and carbon dioxide is being lost. This is the real cause behind the build-up carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Very little is directly caused by the actions of humans. Yes, the last time I checked, burning is still a natural process.
